March Inspirations

Before I switch into a spring state of mind, I am savoring these days where we can still light a fire, live in sweaters and spend an indulgent afternoon reading and gathering ideas for this year’s garden and home inspiration. One needs uninterrupted time to let the mind meander for the creative muse to burst forth. As soon as we have more daylight and things begin to green up, invariably all of my attention and energy is redirected from inside the house to goings on in the garden and living outdoors as much as possible.

Love this Swedish botanical drawing of Lady’s Mantle, which I would like to add more of to our garden this year.

A soft and soothing palette of antique pieces and crisp white linen (source). I am ordering this quilt from Garnet Hill for the end of our bed to add a little texture to the otherwise white bedding.

Contemplating a little dining setup like this in our kitchen for casual meals. I love, love the antique Swedish linen furniture paired with the French marble baker’s table.

Kitchen inspiration: an antique cabinet houses daily dishware, and a campaign bench accent in the pantry.

For the months when my garden is bloom-less, there is nothing more luxurious than the delivery of a box of gardenias.

Some cheerful mimosa at my bedside

Sculpture in a parterre of boxwood and hornbeam; I love how the whimsy of these daisies interrupts the rigidity of the formal garden structure.

Nothing quite so heavenly as framing an entry with roses. Contemplating adding more green accents to our exterior; this color looks like Farrow & Ball ‘Green Smoke.’

Orangerie planters and boxwood

Chippy green paint and Gustavian style

Always inspired by Loi of @toneontone and his vignettes featuring Gustavian antiques.
