I was gifted a set of napkin rings that were not my style, so there they sat unused and still in their original box. I thought I could repurpose them by covering them with a scrap of designer fabric. Since I use mostly white napkins, I opted for a patterned fabric for this project which adds a nice little pop of some pretty blues and celery green that complement the colors in our house, but are still neutral enough for everyday. This project took almost no time or sewing ability.
First, I measured the width and circumference of the napkin rings with pinking shears, so the fabric wouldn’t fray. I cut strips of fabric, adding a little extra length to the circumference measurement. I placed a dot of my favorite all-purpose adhesive, E6000, on the napkin rings and attached the fabric, allowing to dry before the next step. Then, I wrapped the fabric all the way around and made a little finished edge by folding about 1/4” under and placing a dot of glue to secure the fabric.
